The Three Powers Square is a large open space between the three monumental buildings that represent the three branches of the Republic : the Planalto Palace ( Executive ), the Supreme Court ( Judiciary ) and the National Congress ( Legislative ). As in almost all the thoroughfares of Brasilia , the urban part was conceived by Lucio Costa and the buildings were designed by Oscar Niemeyer .
The Three Powers Square, located at the eastern end of the Pilot Plan is an open space measuring about 120 × 220 meters, so that the buildings representative of a power does not stand out before others, mindful of the principle that the powers harmonics and are independent and therefore have the same weight.

It is not a traditional square, because it has no trees or any other element that provides shade to the people who remain in it. Vegetation, only the royal palms that surround the large water surface up to the Congress.

As the buildings around the square, in the north and south directions, occupy small area in relation to the total area of ​​the street, we obtained an impressive sculptural effect.
