Janet Cardiff & George Bures Miller THE MURDER OF CROWS 2008 Brussels, Canada, 1957; Vegreville, Canada, 1960; both live in Berlin, Germany and Grindrod, Canada
description

In a vast space, the artists have installed an audio environment inspired by Goya’s etching The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters (1799), comprised of recorded marches, lullabies, spoken text and musical compositions as well as incidental effects. Emanating from 98 speakers mounted on chairs, stands and walls to bring to mind an avian flock, this work conducts visitors through a dream-like narrative that captures the sculptural and physical qualities of sound.
